Te Puke Economic Development Group (Te Puke EDG) is the district’s incorporated society for economic development. Vector Group Charitable Trust works with them where our community and digital work overlaps their business and district-growth focus.

What Te Puke EDG does

Te Puke EDG (incorporated 2012, tpedg.co.nz) promotes economic diversity and growth across the wider Te Puke district — not only the town centre, but communities such as Maketū, Paengaroa, and Pukehina.

Their public work includes:

Let’s Keep It Local — encouraging residents to use local businesses and services
Te Puke Business Excellence Awards — nominations, judging, and an annual business celebration (winners below)
Investment and district promotion — connecting investors and visitors with local knowledge and council context
Council and regional advocacy — submissions and alignment with Western Bay planning, including SmartGrowth
Membership — businesses and associations joining a collective district voice

Why we support them

Vector Group’s work is youth, community connection, and local digital infrastructure. Te Puke EDG’s work is business visibility and district economic strength. Both serve the same place.

We support Te Puke EDG because:

A stronger local business base supports the jobs, services, and pathways our youth and community programmes point toward
Te Puke EDG advocates for Te Puke in council and regional forums where we also engage on community and connector issues
Mark Boyle has provided informal advice to our trust over many years on district context and timing

We are separate organisations with different roles. We are not competing entities.

Why we continue to collaborate

Collaboration has been practical, not ceremonial:

Web and digital delivery — we have built and maintained Te Puke EDG sites when requested, including Te Puke Business Excellence Awards pages at tepukeawards.business and related design work
Directory and gateway line — our Te Puke directory and travel sites (connector timeline, kiwifruit.capital) list local businesses and district information that supports Keep It Local and business discovery
Shared district focus — both organisations operate in Te Puke and care about long-term local outcomes rather than one-off projects

When Te Puke EDG needs digital support or when our platforms can carry district business information, we continue to work together. When council or community conversations touch both economic development and social connection, we often end up in the same room.

Te Puke Business Excellence Awards

Each year Te Puke EDG runs the Te Puke Business Excellence Awards (TPBEA) — independent judging across retail, service, food and beverage, ag/hort, innovation, sustainability, and leadership. Vector Group has built and maintained the awards web presence at tepukeawards.business when requested by Te Puke EDG.
