There’s a unique kind of debt we all carry — one that can never truly be repaid. It’s not financial. It’s not transactional. It’s the debt of a mother’s love.
Every year, Mother’s Day rolls around, and we scramble. We buy flowers. We make brunch reservations. We sign cards with “Thanks for everything, Mom” and hope it somehow captures what we’re feeling. But let’s be honest: it never quite does.
This year, I wanted to do something different — something that could hold even a fraction of what mothers give. So I wrote a song called A Mother’s Love, and it became one of the most emotional things I’ve ever created.

Here’s what we don’t talk about enough: mothers don’t clock out.
When you were six months old and screaming at 3 AM, she was there. When you were sixteen and made a catastrophic decision, she was there. When you were twenty-five and your world fell apart, she was still there.
The chorus captures this:
This is for the sleepless nights
For holding on so tight
For believing when I couldn’t see
The person I could be
It’s easy to take for granted when you’re on the receiving end. But mothers operate on a level of selflessness most of us will never fully comprehend. They invest their time, their energy, their hearts — without contracts, without guarantees, without expecting returns.
I started writing this song by making a list — not only of the big, obvious things, but of the small, invisible sacrifices that accumulate over a lifetime.
The career opportunities turned down so she could be home when you got off the bus.
The hobbies abandoned because there simply weren’t enough hours in the day.
The dreams deferred — or entirely let go — because your dreams became hers.
For every sacrifice you made
Every price you paid
A mother’s love runs deeper than the sea
When you’re a kid, you don’t see it. When you’re a teenager, you’re too self-absorbed to notice. But somewhere in adulthood, it hits you: she gave up so much. And she’d do it again in a heartbeat.
What struck me most while writing was realising that motherhood isn’t just duty — it’s passion.
Mothers aren’t just there. They’re invested. They study you. They learn your triggers, your love languages, your fears. They become experts in you because they care that deeply.
Your passion kept me strong
Helped me right my wrongs
Who else in your life knows you that intimately? Who else has watched you evolve from helpless infant to walking disaster to (hopefully) functioning adult — and loved you fiercely through every phase?
That level of investment doesn’t come from obligation. It comes from love so profound it reshapes everything.
Even after writing an entire song, I’m not sure I’ve captured it.
How do you quantify unconditional love? How do you thank someone who believed in you before you knew who you were?
No words could ever be enough
To thank you for your love
You planted seeds in fertile ground
Now look at what you’ve found
The thank-you isn’t just in the words. It’s in how we live. It’s in becoming the person she always believed you could be. It’s in breaking cycles, building dreams, and — if we’re lucky — passing on even a fraction of that love to the next generation.
If you take one thing from this post and this song, let it be this: get specific with your gratitude.
Don’t just say “thanks for everything.” Tell her what.
Mothers remember these moments. Hearing that you remember them too? That’s the gift.
As we celebrate Mother’s Day this year, my hope is simple: that every mother feels seen — not only today, but throughout the year ahead.
Forever grateful, forever blessed
You gave your all, you gave your best
A mother’s love… eternally
So here’s to the moms. The ones who show up, who invest everything, who love without limits.
You deserve more than a song. More than a card. More than a single day.
But today, at least, let’s start there.
Listen to A Mother’s Love and share it with the mum in your life.
Happy Mother’s Day.
