At Vector Group Charitable Trust, we believe that solving challenges like food insecurity and environmental instability takes creative technology and grassroots action. We are not only a community hub — we are an incubator for systems that empower people.
Today we are proud to launch the New Zealand Orchard Planner — a free planning tool for food forests, orchards, and syntropic growing in Aotearoa.
As the umbrella organisation behind initiatives such as Grow Te Puke and KaiResilience.food, our goal is to provide infrastructure for a more resilient Aotearoa. The Orchard Planner is the digital expression of that goal.
It is designed to take much of the guesswork out of complex ecological design. By integrating syntropic agriculture and food forest layers into a smart, successional planning tool, we aim to give more people a practical blueprint to turn land into a productive, self-sustaining ecosystem.
This is not traditional gardening alone — it is long-term, intentional design. Whether you are planning for a community marae or a suburban backyard, the platform helps you design for soil building, carbon sequestration, and food grown close to home.
