Vector Group Charitable Trust Proud to Stand Alongside Community Support for Hero

Today was a powerful reminder of the strength in our local communities when people come together with compassion, kindness, and genuine care for one another.

Vector Group Charitable Trust was honoured to attend the community gathering at Tara Road in support of Hero and his family following last week’s traumatic dog attack. What could have remained a heartbreaking story instead became a day filled with connection, support, smiles, and community spirit.

Our team joined local families, supporters, neighbours, and animal lovers from across the Bay of Plenty to celebrate Hero’s resilience while standing beside a family navigating an incredibly difficult time. From children enjoying horse rides to conversations shared over sausages and laughter, the atmosphere reflected the very best of what community means.

We were privileged to help capture moments from the event through photography and media — documenting Hero’s recovery journey and the incredible outpouring of support around him. These moments matter. Stories like this deserve to be shared because they highlight the compassion that still exists so strongly in our region.

Hero continues to recover well. It was uplifting for many attendees to see him looking brighter, continuing his healing journey surrounded by kindness and care. The dedication from those supporting him daily has been remarkable and speaks volumes about the love people have for their animals and each other.
