Te Puke Garden Seeks Volunteers

Kai Resilience1 year ago

The Te Puke Community Garden is gearing up for another bountiful season and is looking for green-thumbed locals and complete beginners to join its volunteer team. More than a patch of soil, it is a hub for nature, learning, and fresh produce for the community — and a practical example of kai resilience in Te Puke. As the days lengthen, the garden needs help for a productive spring and summer.

Why the garden needs your help

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the garden. Whether you have years of experience or simply want to get your hands dirty, there is a place for you. Tasks this season include:

  • Preparing the beds for planting
  • Sowing seeds and seedlings for a new harvest
  • Weeding and general maintenance
  • Harvesting produce to share with the community
  • Composting and building new structures for a more sustainable future

Every hour helps put fresh, healthy food on local tables and keeps this community space flourishing.

The benefits of volunteering

Volunteering here is not only work — you can:

  • Learn from experienced gardeners
  • Meet people and build friendships across Te Puke
  • Enjoy fresh air and activity outdoors
  • Take pride in watching the garden grow
