A Morning at Giggles Early Learning

The sun was shining in Te Puke, and the air was full of hard work and community spirit. Vector Group Charitable Trust, with dedicated volunteers, spent a productive morning at Giggles Early Learning, getting their māra kai ready for the new season.

The mission was clear: revitalise the garden so it stays a bountiful, educational space for tamariki. The day’s work included serious pruning and a bit of tree surgery — volunteers trimming feijoa trees for strong new growth and a good crop in the months ahead.

The biggest challenge was a peach tree that had seen better days. With teamwork and careful planning, volunteers removed it and opened space for more productive plants. The whole Giggles Early Learning whānau was there — owners Shona and her husband leading the way, with their children learning hands-on why sustainable gardening matters.

A huge thank you to every volunteer who showed up. Your energy and passion are what make Te Puke special. Shout-outs to AJ from Te Puke Landscape Supplies and Hireworks for the chipper and chainsaw that made the job possible.

This is the Trust’s vision in action — a stronger, more connected community where everyone can thrive. The māra kai at Giggles is a living classroom: where food comes from, and how we work together. We look forward to the fruits (and feijoas!) of this labour in the seasons ahead.
